I was a runner and athlete for my entire life and didn't start doing yoga until I was in my forties. Four short years ago I couldn't sit on the floor cross-legged, at all. I meditated in a kneeling position, using a traditional meditation bench. Any time I wanted to meditate, I needed to bring or find something to sit on, or fidget endlessly in discomfort. All the classic teachings discuss the virtue of meditating in the Lotus position, but I had written it off entirely, due to my tight runner's hips.
Then I discovered Jonathan and Bheemashakti yoga. Now I can sit in one-third and half-lotus positions while meditating (I'm still working on full-lotus).
I never thought it was possible to open my body in my late forties. You can, too! I specialize in teaching people who think they can't do yoga. Give it 10 weeks and be surprised how your body and mind will change. Interested? Drop me a note.
